Social Affiliations

WAMC
TThe Western Australian Mining Club is a group of people associated with the mining industry, not necessarily in a professional capacity. The Club organises a monthly luncheon where a guest speaker addresses the members on topics associated with the industry. Alan has been an active member since1978, having served as a Committee Member, Treasurer and President.

RSMA & ICA
Alan attended the Royal School of Mines, Imperial College between 1965 and 1968; graduating with a Degree in Mining Engineering from the University of London (B.Sc(Eng)) and an Associateship of the Royal School of Mines (ARSM). Alan is very active in the local Alumni association of Imperial College having served as secretary for many years and continuing in the role of Social Secretary and Correspondent. The former members of the Royal School of Mines visiting or living in Perth are grateful to Alan for maintaining a register of members and advising them of the monthly sundowner. Rostrum WA
Rostrum is an organisation aimed at improving member’s confidence in addressing audiences and running meetings. Alan has been an active member for many years having served his club in all the executive roles and served on the governing body of the State organisation. Alan has been an Accredited Critic since 1988. He was made a Life member of his Club (42) in 2004.

WC B&B
The West Coast Beefsteak and Burgundy Club is one of the two Perth clubs of this international organisation. Its aim is to teach its members the finer points about good food and wine. Alan is an active member, a committee member for several years and has served two terms as its President and two as Secretary/Treasurer. Alan was the Secretary/Treasurer of the organising committee that planned and executed the 26th International Beefsteak and Burgundy Convention, in Perth 2008. Alan was made a Life Member of his club in 2008.

RROCA

Shortly after receiving a Christmas gift of a 1983 Roll-Royce Silver Spur Alan (and Rita – the giver) joined the Rolls Royce Owners Association (WA Branch). Since then Alan has been kept busy keeping his car in Concourse condition. His 13 trophies, including National Class Prize at the 2004 Rally and Overall WA Winner also that year are a testament to his success.
