Professional Affiliations

MICA
The Mining Industry Consultants Association is a society within the AusIMM comprising consultants who have been accredited by their peers. The organisation has a Code of Ethics and a Code for Consultants that members adhere to. Alan has been a Member of this Society since its first year of inception in 1981(MMICA). Alan is a member of the Board of Directors since in January 2003.

 

AusIMM
The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy is the professional body representing those employed in the mining industry. The organisation was founded in 1893. There are several classes of membership through which Alan has progressed. He joined the institute as a Junior after he joined the staff at Mount Isa in 1969, became a Member in 1975 and a Fellow in 1991 (FAusIMM). Alan is an active member and a former committee member of the Perth Branch of the Institute attending most of their regular technical meetings. Alan became a Chartered Practicing professionals when accreditation started in 1997 (CP).

IOM3
This is the international institute representing professionals in the mining and materials industries. The organisation is based in the UK. Alan joined the IMM as a Student in 1968, became a Member in 1975 and a Fellow in 1991 (FIMM). In 2002 the IMM joined forces with the Institute of Materials becoming the Institution of Materials, Minerals and Mining. The Institute belongs to the larger organisation the Engineering Council and it through that body that Alan is accredited as a Chartered Engineer (C.Eng). The Institute has an active
Western Australian Branch of which Alan is a Committee Member and former Chairman.

 

IAMA

Alan has assisted in cases of litigation and arbitration. His interest lead him to complete the Professional Certificate in Arbitration from the University of Adelaide (2003) and to joining the institute as an Associate Member (AM IAMA) in 2004. Alan also achieved an Adjudication Training Certificate (2004).
